The Sacral Plexus (plexus sacralis) (Fig. 828).—The sacral plexus is formed by the lumbosacral trunk, the anterior division of the first, and portions of the anterior divisions of the second and third sacral nerves.

bigeminus) of the 1st sacral spinal nerve, which contributes to the plexus sacralis Sacral plexus • The sacral plexus (plexus sacralis) is a nerve plexus that provides motor and sensory nerves for the posterior thigh, most of the lower leg, the entire foot, and part of the pelvis . It is part of the larger lumbosacral plexus. The sacral plexus is derived from the anterior rami of spinal nerves L4, L5, S1, S2, S3, and S4. The levator ani muscle and the coccygeal muscle are supplied directly by nerve branches from the sacral plexus. Coccygeal Plexus (S4 – Co) (A – C) The anterior branches of the fourth and fifth sacral nerves form a fine plexus on the coccygeal muscle, the coccygeal plexus (AB14). In human anatomy, the sacral plexus is a nerve plexus which provides motor and sensory nerves for the posterior thigh, most of the lower leg and foot, and part of the pelvis.

Nerve transfer is a validated surgical procedure for the functional restoration of nervous tissue after lesion of the nerve. To date, various nerve transfer procedures have been used for brachial plexus avulsion injuries in upper limbs. 1– 5 In lumbosacral plexus avulsion, where the donor nerve is limited, intercostal nerves often serve as the donor nerves. 6, 7 However, the limited number

Innervation of the iliosacral joint is provided by fine nerve branches derived exclusively from dorsal rami of spinal nerves S1-S4. No branches could be detected from the plexus sacralis and obturator nerve coursing over the ventral aspect of the joint.
